Items and enchantments:
Trident:
A sick new weapon (minecraft, in my opinion, desperately needs something else besides the sword and bow)!!!! It deals 9 damage (four and a half hearts) of damage when it hits something. You may be thinking, "ok... so it's basically like a sword? THAT'S SO BORING!!!!!!!!!!!!!! WHAT A LETDOWN!!!!". You would be very correct to think that if that's all the trident could do. But, it can also be thrown and can get many awesome enchantments! It has good range and a shorter windup time than a bow. However, after you throw a trident, you have to go and pick it up. Fortunately, this can be solved by one of the trident enchantments:
Loyalty: The trident will come back to you (cool, right?)
Impaler: Basically sharpness for the trident, however impaler affects both melee and ranged damage.
Channeling: Probably the coolest enchantment in minecraft: lightning will strike where the trident hits. (Isn't that SO COOL)
Riptide: When you hit with the trident, you lunge forward. You should probably try this out to see what it feels like.
Dried kelp: This is made from kelp in a furnace. You can eat it faster than other food items; however, it only restores 1 hunger point.
Heart of the Sea: Although it's name suggests it should be one of the most important items in the game, it is only used to craft conduits (which are quite useful but not really essential to game progression). Hearts of the Sea can rarely be found in buried treasure chests.
Nautilus shell: Surround a Heart of the Sea with eight nautilus shells and you have a conduit. Nautilus shells are can be obtained by slaying the Drowned. Conduit crafting recipe:
N=nautilus shell H=heart of the sea

NNN = 1 conduith
Mobs
Dolphin: they look cool, they can jump like real dolphins.... and who doesn't like dolphins? Also, if you feed them raw fish, they will swim towards shipwrecks and ocean ruins, allowing you to get sick loot! If you don't like dolphins, you're in trouble, because all dolphins in the area will attack you if you attack a dolphin.
The Drowned: these ugly, undead humanoids spawn in water and are basically underwater zombies. Zombies that stay in water for long enough will also turn into drowned. Drowned have a chance of carrying tridents, so make sure to slay any if you see them!
Fish: if you ever thought it was weird that you can't ever see the fish you can catch, minecraft editors thought so too. Now fish swim around randomly in bodies of water, in their variants too! Salmon, cod, tropical fish, and pufferfish can all be killed while swimming around and will drop their fish (For example, if you kill a salmon you get a salmon item). However, tropical fish drop clownfish currently, but I think this will probably change. Also, all fish now have their own spawn eggs now. Another interesting fact is that fish will always swim upstream.
Phantom: these creepy creatures fly at high altitudes. They come down to attack you in groups and are attracted to insomnia (players who haven't slept in many minecraft days). They are an undead mob and drop phantom membrane. Phantom membrane is used to repair an elytra at the anvil and also make potions of slow falling.
Turtle: These are passive, mellow, animals that mostly just swim around. When turtles mature, they go to the shore to lay eggs. More on turtle eggs later.
Blocks:
Kelp: this block grows in stacks underwater. Smelt it to obtain dried kelp.
Seagrass: Grows on sand and gravel, two blocks high. Turtles will mate and have eggs if given seagrass, like a sheep and wheat.
Coral: You can find this cool block in the coral reef biome. It comes in plant, block, and slab variants. Like in real life, coral comes in many different colors.
Turtle eggs: Turtles lay these when matured. After a while, turtle eggs hatch and baby turtles will crawl towards nearby water, where they will mature. When turtles mature, they drop a scute. 5 scutes arranged like a helmet in the crafting table will give you a turtle shell, which provides 2 armor protection and complete water breathing. 1-4 eggs can be stacked on a block. Unfortunately, zombies and the drowned can step on and break turtle eggs, so you might want to protect eggs if you see them.

Pumpkins no longer have a face. The old texture is called "carved pumpkin". To carve a pumpkin, you must shear it.
Conduit: this strange block activates when it has 16 prismarine, dark prismarine, prismarine bricks, or sea lantern blocks around it (I will hereafter refer to all of these as prismarine-similar blocks for the sake of readability). If the conduit has 42 prismarine-similar blocks around it, it will start give nearby players the power status effect, which grants water breathing, haste, and increased underwater vision. Conduits also hurt hostile mobs around the conduit. You may only place conduits under water. If you want the recipe, it's in the nautilus shell section.
Structures
Shipwreck: Shipwrecks in minecraft are similar to real-life shipwrecks. They are found underwater and are made mainly of all kinds of wood. These structures contain loot chests and can contain a buried treasure map, which is used to find nearby buried treasure.
Coral reefs: There's not much to say about this mellow biome... it contains lots of coral and fish!
Iceberg: are naturally generated structures made of snow and packed ice. Icebergs are found in icy sea biomes. Just like a real iceberg, part of the iceberg is above water and part of it below.
Underwater ruins: These cool structures generate underwater (although very rarely can generate on land). They usually contain some hidden chests, and you have a chance of discovering a Heart of the Sea! Underwater ruins usually generate out of stone bricks, polished granite, and cobblestone. In the warm ocean biome, they can generate out of sandstone.
So that's a basic overview of the cool new update. Thanks for reading, and I hope you enjoy playing Minecraft 1.13 - Update Aquatic!
